Angela “Gela” Loeschmann (née Otten)
March 1st 1964 – January 14th 2026
Our beloved Gela was taken home by the Lord on January 14th 2026 in Prince George B.C. She is survived by husband and soulmate Michael Loeschmann, son Stephen Langhjelm (Melonie), daughter Krissi Martin (Tyler), grandchildren Hayley, Jacob and Jireh, father Gregor Otten, sisters Monika McMillan & Karen Varela, brothers Ben & Rainer, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her mother Edeltraud Otten in 2010.
Born in Victoria, she grew up in Vancouver and North Vancouver, also lived in the Fraser Valley, as far afield as Grande Prairie, and finally made her home in Burns Lake. She was “Dr. Mom” in First Aid, loved being out with her Nikon camera, trying new recipes in the kitchen, growing new plants in her garden, or wandering through forest glades.
Gela was a follower of Jesus Christ from a young age, and tried to put into practice what she learned from the Bible. She struggled with health problems most of her life, but the Lord gave her grace and strength to get through them. Her spirit and trust in God were undiminished by her cancer, although her physical body suffered greatly.
Our cherished wife, mom, Oma, sister, aunt, niece, will be greatly missed and mourned by all who knew her, and especially her gentle spirit, kind heart, quiet strength and unselfishness. She truly put Phillipians 4:5 into practice: “Let your gentle spirit be known to all”.
We extend special appreciation to Dr. Leung, Dr. Sainchuk, and the staff of the Surgery South ward at UHNBC, who cared for her with such compassion and kindness in the last month of her life.
Funeral service is planned for 1PM on January 30th 2026 at St. Paul’s United Church in Burns Lake. Interment to follow at Palling Cemetery. A further memorial service will be held in the Lower Mainland at a later date.
